Has soccer given Africa a lasting shine?

The first World Cup to be held in Africa Was preceded by months of adverse speculation that South Africa would not be able to handle the event. The stadiums would not be ready on time. Transport systems would fail. Crime figures would shoot up. In fact, all went off splendidly. South Africa's prestige soared. And the African continent is basking in the glory. Were the Games a turning point for Africa's international reputation? This public discussion considers the legacy of he 2010 World Cup soccer tournament to Africa.
