Indians are proud of their position as a key partner of the United States and many remain wary of China. Some observers suggest that by courting Washington, India will force through new strategic alignments that could dramatically change the global balance of power. So where could it all lead -- India a strategic ally of Israel; Pakistan searching for new friends; China's vigil over India's influence in Burma and Nepal; and the jostling for position of India, China and Russia as each becomes stronger.
