Patrick Manning, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda and Kamalesh Sharma, Commonwealth Secretary-General, will address a news conference on the morning of Commonwealth Day, 8 March 2010.
Thereafter, Prime Minister Manning, the current Commonwealth Chair-in-Office, and President Kagame will address Commonwealth High Commissioners and invited guests at a flag-raising ceremony in the grounds of Marlborough House, to mark Rwanda’s first Commonwealth Day. Rwanda was admitted to the Commonwealth in November 2009, during the biennial Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr Manning, Mr Kagame and Mr Sharma will later attend a multi-faith Commonwealth Day Observance at Westminster Abbey, in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen.
